White gold as a metal in itself does not exist. It is yellow gold alloyed with white metals such as palladium, to give it a white-ish appearance. It is then plated with rhodium, a noble metal that is used to thinly coat the white gold to give it a bright white lustre. Although a naturally hard element, it will eventually wear away to reveal the white gold underneath. The rhodium is easily re-applied to return the piece to its former glory. This is also complimentary as part of our comprehensive aftercare service. White gold is a popular choice here at Diamond Quarter.
